Careers

We’re growing from seven people to nine, slowly and deliberately. Salaries are published, hours are sane, and everyone ships something to a client every Friday.

What you get

The same for everyone, from apprentice to founder.

  • Salary bands published in every job ad and reviewed every April
  • A 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, no evenings or weekends
  • 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, and the studio closes between Christmas and New Year
  • 6% employer pension contribution, matched up to 8%
  • £1,200 a year to spend on learning, plus two conference days
  • Hybrid: in the Holbeck studio Tuesday and Thursday, anywhere in the UK otherwise
  • A laptop of your choice and £500 for your home setup
  • Enhanced parental leave: 20 weeks at full pay for any parent

Open roles

Applications for all three roles close on Monday 30 November 2026. We aim to have people start in February.

Senior Backend Engineer

Salary
£68,000 to £78,000
Hours
Full time, 35 hours
Location
Leeds, hybrid
Reports to
Tom Haverley

About the role

You’ll work alongside Ingrid on the server side of our client projects: APIs, data models, integrations with systems that were never designed to be integrated with, and the migrations that move a business off its old tools without losing a day’s work. Most of our backend work is in Python and Django, with some Node.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build APIs and data models for two or three client projects a year
  • Plan and run data migrations, including rehearsals and roll-back plans
  • Talk directly to clients about trade-offs, in language they understand
  • Review code, pair with less experienced colleagues, and improve our shared tooling

What we’re looking for

  • Five or more years building and running production web services
  • Strong Python, and a working relationship with Postgres that goes beyond the ORM
  • Experience you can describe of a system going wrong in production and what you changed afterwards
  • Clear written English; our Friday notes go straight to clients

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare, logistics or another regulated sector
  • Infrastructure as code

Send a CV or a short note about something you’ve built to careers@ddtxv.xyz with “Senior Backend Engineer” in the subject line. No cover letter needed.

Mobile Engineer

Salary
£56,000 to £66,000
Hours
Full time, 35 hours
Location
Leeds, hybrid
Reports to
Callum Breck

About the role

Our mobile work has doubled in two years, mostly apps for people who work on their feet: drivers, carers, engineers. You’ll build React Native apps that keep working in a basement with no signal and on a four-year-old phone with a cracked screen.

What you’ll do

  • Build features end to end in React Native, dropping into Swift or Kotlin when needed
  • Design offline storage and sync, and test it on real devices in real places
  • Manage store releases, beta channels and crash reporting
  • Go out with users for a day at the start of each project

What we’re looking for

  • Three or more years shipping mobile apps that real people use
  • Solid TypeScript and React
  • Some native experience on at least one platform
  • Patience with flaky hardware and a habit of writing down what you learn

Send a CV and links to any apps you’ve worked on to careers@ddtxv.xyz with “Mobile Engineer” in the subject line.

Delivery Lead, part time

Salary
£52,000 full-time equivalent, paid pro rata
Hours
3 days a week, 21 hours
Location
Leeds, at least one day in the studio
Reports to
Priya Raman

About the role

Ruth currently keeps every project on track as well as running the studio. As we grow, we need someone to own the client side of delivery: weekly planning calls, scope conversations, and making sure the Friday note is honest about what slipped and why.

What you’ll do

  • Run Monday planning with three or four client teams
  • Spot scope changes early and price them before they cost anyone money
  • Edit Friday release notes so they read well to people who don’t write software
  • Improve how we estimate, using our own historical data

What we’re looking for

  • Experience delivering software projects with small teams, in-house or agency side
  • Comfort with difficult conversations about money and time
  • Enough technical understanding to know when to ask an engineer and when not to

We’re open to job shares and to returners after a career break. Write to careers@ddtxv.xyz with “Delivery Lead” in the subject line, or call Ruth on 0113 496 0418 for an informal chat first.

Nothing that fits?

We take on one apprentice developer each September, in partnership with a local college. Applications for September 2027 open in March. If you’d like a reminder, email careers@ddtxv.xyz.
